Sierra Friday

Stage Manager and Theatre Technician

Sierra Friday (she/her) is an aspiring Stage Manager and all around theatre technician primarily based out of New York City and Los Angeles, California.

As a soon to be graduate of Wagner Colleges Theatre Design Technology and Management major, Sierra believes that the best way to be a successful stage manager is to gain experience in every other aspect of theatre. Doing so develops a true understanding of how to communicate respectfully and clearly with all those involved in a production. Sierra spent her time in college working in everything from props to paints, costumes, run crew, shop crew, lighting design and operation, scenic design, hair and makeup and occasionally even sound. Taking on these positions in between stage management slots has allowed her to truly appreciate the work that each department puts in and has given her the practical vocabulary to translate a director's often abstract wishes into something tangible that a design team can play off of.

Most recently Sierra has worked as the PSM for Picnic, The Diary of Anne Frank and Daughters of Leda. She has also completed technical theatre internships with the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Theatre and the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum.

When not lurking in a dark theatre, foraging in props storage or sewing new buttons on something, Sierra can be found reading 17th century literature, playing card games, napping, fencing or trying to befriend any and every cat she comes across.
